Cheshire Police Alert

Northwich police are currently investigating a number of telephone scams targeting the elderly where a caller claims to be from the HMRC tax office. The caller convinces the subjects to buy large amounts of I Tunes vouchers to settle a fake tax bill. They will state there will be repercussions if the bill is not paid.

This is a scam. HMRC will never cold call and will never ask for any personal details. They will also never ask for payment via I Tunes vouchers.

Please make yourselves and any family members aware of this scam especially those who are vulnerable. If you are in doubt and believe you may have been targeted, hang up and contact the police on 101 to report it.
