Play Area Updates – Dukes Way 1 and Kingslawn Close/Mereworth Drive

Dukes Way 1

Following health and safety concerns about rot to the frame and extensive wear to the bridge, the entire structure at the site area was fenced off to prevent injury. The site was subsequently broken into which left the structure accessible.

Due to ongoing concerns about the risk of the site, the entire structure has now been removed as it was not financially viable to repair due to the age of the equipment.

The structure will be replaced as a priority and it is hoped that the new equipment will be in place by August.

Kingslawn Close/Mereworth Drive

The tall wooden climbing unit at the site has now been removed due to extensive rot through the frame meaning it could not be repaired to the required standard.

The Council intends to replace this item with one or two pieces of equipment suitable for a similar age range.
